A couple of years ago, my church was going through some challenges as churches often do that found us without a Senior Pastor. I was tasked by the church board to Chair a Search Committee.
I brought my concepts of planning, setting expectations and investing the time to get the job done to the table and while there was some objection, I felt that the committee ultimately appreciated my guidance. A new Pastor was selected and hired. The turmoil seems to have subsided and the congregation is universally pleased. I am no longer on the Church Board. But, feel honored to have been asked by the Pastor to be an accountability partner for him. This project was very challenging. It is also a very personally rewarding experience.
