The County purchased and implemented a new Records Management System (RMS) for use by all of the Law Enforcement agencies in the County. There was a great deal of disagreement and finger pointing which was creating some negative press. I was tasked to fix it or advise leadership that they should seek a new software company. What was really meant by management was; “Get us out of the News Paper!” The prevailing concept was that if there were problems, the vendor must be at fault. Over a period of time, I was able to establish a local user group to review issues, make comparisons, trouble shoot and communicate with the vendor. The problems were resolved and a strong partnership was developed with the Vendor. The partnership with this vendor continues today and the County has expanded the number of products used from the vendor. And most importantly, it has been sometime since we had any negative press regarding our computer systems.
