Strategic Plan for GIS in Wisconsin
Mapping is an important component of the 911 industry and it became even more important with the advent of Cell phones. Because of my interest/opinions about GIS and a demonstrated willingness to work across disciplines, I was invited by the WLIA (Wisconsin Land Information Association) to be part of a project they had been tasked to undertake; To develop a strategic plan for GIS in Wisconsin.
This project showed great promise to expand the understanding and use of GIS in the State and to develop a uniform platform that would save money and other resources at the State and Local level. It was an honor to be included and offered several new relationships that have been useful to me and the County. Unfortunately, politics has, so far, kept the state from making the progress once envisioned.
