To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to speak on behalf of Al Blencoe.

My name is Nancy Brady and I am the Telecommunicator Training Coordinator for the State of Iowa. To clarify, I manage Iowa’s mandatory 9-1-1 emergency communications training program that is held at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. I have held that position since its inception in 1998 when Iowa’s law went into effect requiring this training. Our Basic Training Program is held at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Additionally, I conduct training around Iowa and across the country.

I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Al Blencoe since the early 90’s through various public safety organizations, conferences and training sessions. His outgoing personality and optimism are the first things that come to my mind as great assets, he is very much a “people person”.

I know Al to be an outstanding instructor who motivates his students and fosters an enthusiasm for learning. I have invited him to teach here in Iowa and will hopefully get him back here again in the future.

Another great asset Al has is his organizational skills. I have attended several APCO and NENA Regional Conferences in which he chaired primary committees. These conferences are quite large and include attendees from as many as thirteen states. Al is organized and handles everything that comes up without difficulty. He is not afraid to pitch in on whatever needs to be done, large or small. With groups of this size there can be all kinds of challenges but Al always rises to the occasion. Al is the type of person who takes each new experience and turns it into a learning experience for himself.

I also want to talk just a moment about his ethics. Public safety has been a great passion for Al, and I see him as a leader in making ethical decisions. Although public safety has been his arena for many years, I can easily see the traits that I have described above easily transferring into another profession.
